inbicha First Flush Kamairicha – Rare Japanese Pan-Fired Green Tea
A rare taste of Japan, grown in harmony with nature.
Discover the exceptional flavour of inbicha, a beautifully aromatic Japanese green tea grown in the peaceful mountains of Oita Prefecture, Japan.
Unlike most Japanese green teas, which are steamed, this tea is prepared using the traditional Kamairicha (釜炒り茶) pan-firing method — an increasingly rare technique that accounts for only around 1% of Japanese green tea production.
This traditional process creates a delicate roasted aroma known as Kamaka (釜香), with a beautifully smooth, refreshing taste, gentle sweetness and a clean, lingering finish.
The first flush leaves produce a clear, golden-green infusion that can be enjoyed for up to three brews.
GROWN IN THE HEART OF JAPAN’S MOUNTAINS
Inbicha is cultivated in the mountains of Saiki, Oita Prefecture, near the headwaters of the pristine Banjo River.
Here, cool mountain mornings, gentle mist, natural shade and significant differences between day and night temperatures create a unique growing environment.
The tea plants grow slowly in these conditions, developing their distinctive depth of flavour.
Some of the tea bushes are over 50 years old, reflecting generations of tea-growing tradition in this beautiful, remote region of Japan.
NATURALLY GROWN WITH EXCEPTIONAL CARE
What makes this tea truly special is the dedication that begins long before the leaves are harvested.
No pesticides. No chemical fertilisers. No herbicides.
Instead of relying on commercial fertilisers, the grower carefully prepares natural compost using ingredients such as rice bran, fallen leaves, sawdust and wild grasses.
This traditional approach encourages healthy, living soil and supports the natural environment surrounding the tea gardens.
Every harvest reflects a deep respect for nature, patience and the belief that exceptional tea begins with healthy soil.
TRADITIONAL JAPANESE CRAFTSMANSHIP
While most Japanese green tea is steamed, Kamairicha is heated in pans using a traditional method that brings out the natural character of the leaves.
The result is a wonderfully aromatic tea with subtle toasted notes, a mellow body and a refreshing sweetness.
With very little harsh bitterness, it offers a beautifully balanced drinking experience that can be enjoyed throughout the day.
Each tea bag can be brewed up to three times, revealing the delicate character of the leaves with every infusion.
THOUGHTFULLY MADE TEA BAGS
Great care has also been taken with the packaging.
The tea bags are made from plant-derived biodegradable material, chosen as a more environmentally conscious alternative to conventional petroleum-derived tea bag materials.
Each pyramid-shaped tea bag contains 3g of carefully selected Japanese green tea, allowing you to enjoy a freshly brewed cup without the need for a traditional teapot.
A simple way to experience authentic Japanese tea at home, at work or while travelling.
