Emerald Fan & Hexagon Obi Hoodie
This panel is made from a vintage Japanese obi – a sash traditionally worn with kimono. It features a mix of classic patterns that all have special meanings in Japanese culture.
The diamond shapes represent balance and good fortune and are often used in celebratory textiles. The bold orange flowers are chrysanthemums, symbols of longevity and happiness, and the emblem of the Japanese imperial family.
At the top, stylised leaves and small white flowers depict the paulownia plant, another motif historically linked to status and tradition in Japan.
What I love about this design is how bold the colours are and how it blends nature with geometric forms. It’s not just decorative — it tells a story.
Custom orders are available in the same fabric.
As each piece is made from a single obi, the pattern placement will vary, so it won’t be exactly the same as shown in the photos. If you’d like, we can confirm the fabric placement in advance by email—please get in touch.
Orders are usually ready to ship within 7–10 days.
