Heian Court Carriage Obi Hoodie
This handmade organic cotton hoodie is crafted from a 4.5-metre Fukuro obi, featuring a detailed depiction of a Heian-period court carriage once used by Japanese nobility.
Woven in gold-threaded silk and rich colour, the obi tells a visual story of court life and ceremonial procession. By reworking this historic textile into a contemporary hoodie, the piece brings together narrative, craftsmanship, and modern everyday wear.
Custom orders are available in the same fabric.
As each piece is made from a single obi, the pattern placement will vary, so it won’t be exactly the same as shown in the photos. If you’d like, we can confirm the fabric placement in advance by email—please get in touch.
Orders are usually ready to ship within 7–10 days.
Sizes currently in stock are available for immediate dispatch.

What is a Fukuro Obi?
A Fukuro obi (袋帯) is a long, decorative sash traditionally worn with formal kimono in Japan. Usually woven from luxurious silk with intricate patterns, the obi is a symbol of Japanese craftsmanship and culture.
By repurposing this beautiful textile, we create a sustainable hoodie that blends Japanese tradition with contemporary fashion. Perfect for those who love unique festival clothing, boho streetwear, or Japanese-inspired style.
