A one-of-one piece handmade by Groovy Japanese Boutique using an authentic vintage Japanese silk haori.
This reworked piece transforms a traditional vintage Japanese garment into a bold contemporary statement, combining timeless craftsmanship with a clean monochrome edge.
As each piece is individually handmade from a different vintage garment, every one has its own unique fabric, pattern and history. No two are ever exactly alike.
The deep black silk features exquisite white embroidered floral compositions, beautifully arranged across the back and front of the haori.
Delicate blossoms, trailing stems, graceful leaves and bamboo motifs unfold across the fabric in an elegant asymmetrical design, creating a striking contrast against the dramatic black ground. The crisp white embroidery brings clarity, movement and refined detail to the piece, celebrating the beauty of traditional Japanese decorative design through a bold monochrome palette.
Three white stripes have been added along the sleeves, bringing a fresh contemporary edge to the traditional silhouette. The clean linear detailing creates a modern sportswear-inspired contrast against the refined vintage silk, resulting in a distinctive fusion of Japanese elegance and streetwear attitude.
Inside, the soft ivory silk lining features an elegant tonal woven pattern of flowing wave-like motifs. The softly shimmering jacquard adds depth and movement to the interior, creating a beautiful contrast to the bold black exterior and revealing another layer of Japanese textile craftsmanship.
The traditional ivory braided haori ties, finished with delicate tassels, complete the piece while preserving its authentic Japanese character.
