A one-of-one piece handmade by Groovy Japanese Boutique using an authentic vintage Japanese silk haori.

This piece features the exact same GROOVY REWORKED black-and-gold design as the haori worn on stage by Skin of Skunk Anansie.

The design, silhouette and signature three metallic gold sleeve stripes are the same. The only difference is the original vintage Japanese haori used to create it.

As each piece is individually handmade from a different vintage garment, every one has its own unique fabric, pattern and history. No two are ever exactly alike.

The deep black silk features exquisite Japanese floral embroidery in rich wine-red tones, with delicate blossoms, graceful leaves and flowing ornamental lines beautifully arranged across the fabric.

The intricate embroidery unfolds elegantly across the lower back and front, creating a captivating contrast against the dark silk. Delicate floral branches intertwine with softly flowing, ribbon-like motifs, bringing a sense of movement, femininity and artistic expression to the traditional silhouette.

The beautiful wine-red stitching reveals subtle variations of pink and burgundy, adding depth and texture to the intricate botanical composition. The expressive floral design reflects the timeless Japanese appreciation of nature, seasonal beauty and refined craftsmanship.

A delicate pale ivory Japanese mon (family crest), featuring a stylised botanical motif, adorns the upper back. Its understated design creates a subtle yet elegant contrast against the dark silk, celebrating the heritage and traditional identity of the original garment.

Three metallic gold stripes have been added along the sleeves, bringing a bold contemporary edge to the traditional silhouette. These signature stripes are the defining feature of the GROOVY REWORKED design worn by Skin, creating a distinctive fusion of Japanese elegance and rock ‘n’ roll attitude.

Inside, the soft ivory silk lining features an exquisite tonal Japanese floral pattern, with delicate chrysanthemums, graceful botanical arrangements and elegant geometric detailing woven into the fabric.
