We’re excited to introduce GROOVY REWORKED — our new collection of one-of-one pieces bringing together beautiful vintage Japanese textiles and contemporary streetwear.
We’ve always loved the history, craftsmanship and individuality found in vintage Japanese clothing. GROOVY REWORKED takes that love in a new direction.
Each piece starts with a vintage Japanese kimono, haori or textile that we carefully select. We then rework it by hand, combining traditional Japanese fabrics with reclaimed sportswear elements to create something completely individual.
No mass production. No two pieces the same.
Our first GROOVY REWORKED jackets combine vintage Japanese fabrics with reclaimed Adidas elements, creating an unexpected meeting of Japanese heritage and modern street style.
Every garment is designed and handmade by Groovy Japanese Boutique, and once a particular piece has sold, that exact piece is gone.
For us, reworking is also about giving existing textiles another life. Vintage fabrics that have already travelled through time become part of something new rather than being forgotten.
This is only the beginning. We’ll be creating more one-of-one GROOVY REWORKED pieces, experimenting with different vintage Japanese textiles, colours and reclaimed materials as the collection grows.
