A 30kg Delivery on Its Way from Japan

Today I arranged a collection for a 30kg shipment coming from Japan.

Inside are carefully selected pieces I’ve been waiting for — vintage furisode, traditional kimono, and embroidered sukajan jackets. These garments are currently making their journey to the UK and should arrive in a couple of weeks.

Alongside the clothing, I also asked for a few personal items to be included — a richly aromatic sesame oil and Japanese tea, flavours that are difficult to find outside Japan. Small comforts, but ones that carry a strong sense of place.

This is always my favourite moment in the process. Before anything is unpacked, photographed, or styled — when the pieces still exist somewhere between memory and anticipation.

Each item has been chosen slowly and with intention, thinking about texture, movement, and the person who might eventually wear it. These are garments meant to be lived in, not rushed.

I’m very much looking forward to sharing them once they arrive.
